Supreme Judicial Council - SJC authorized the investigative courts in the governorates to consider elections day complaints.
Under the direct supervision of SJC President, the council decided to authorize the investigation courts in all governorates of the country, including the governorates of the Kurdistan region of Iraq - KRG, as it is contain a judge and a member of the public prosecution to receive complaints and information from the security committees in these governorates for crimes and violations that may be committed on polling day, and to take direct legal measures in their regard, according to a statement by Supreme Security Committee for Elections, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
The statement included, "These committees work under the supervision of a central committee in each governorate headed by the president of the Court of Appeal and with the membership of two of his deputies as well as a public prosecutor in the appellate region, under the direct supervision of the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, in addition to the supervision of the Chief Public Prosecutor and the head of the Judicial Supervision Authority,”
"The measure came to ensure the integrity of the parliamentary elections for tomorrow, October 10th,” according to the statement.
