Electoral silence began across Iraq on Saturday, a day before holding a general voting in early parliamentary elections scheduled for Sunday.
During the period of electoral silence, political entities and parties are prohibited from promoting their electoral campaigns and candidates until the end of the voting process.
Candidates are competing for 329 seats, including 83 seats, representing 25% of the total allocated to women, as well as nine minority seats divided among Christians, Shabak, Sabian, Yazidis and Feyli Kurds.
On Friday evening, the Independent High Electoral Commission announced voter turnout for all provinces and the number of participants, with 69% of the 821,800 out of 1,196,524 voters participating.
On Friday evening, special ballot boxes across Iraq, which included members of the security services (excluding the Popular Mobilization), inmates and displaced persons, were closed in early parliamentary elections.
