The First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hassan Al-Kaabi, received the Russian ambassador in Baghdad, Elbrus Kutrashev and his accompanying delegation. During the meeting, many files of common interest were discussed, including the upcoming parliamentary elections.
Al-Kaabi said, during the meeting: "The upcoming elections are the most important, as it come in a great challenges, as it the first early elections, and they must come in response to the aspirations of the people throughout the country, and here it has become a turning point in the democratic process in Iraq."
He expressed his "welcome to all missions, agencies, international, diplomatic and international organizations that will carry out the task of monitoring the elections," noting that "this participation will add a lot to the democratic process and establish the principle of peaceful transfer of power according to the aspirations of the masses, noting that the upcoming elections may be a first step for a clear stage represented in addressing the problems which facing the country in various sectors, especially the security and economic sectors.
Al-Kaabi discussed with the Russian ambassador the overall economic and investment relations between the two friendly countries and the importance of expanding the volume of Russian investments inside Iraq and cooperation in the industrial, agricultural, commercial, cultural and scientific fields.
