The Secretary of APSU Organization for Water Sustainability, Faisal Al-Ethari today, Sunday, announced the gains achieved from Makhoul Dam, and its importance in controlling water distribution.
Al-Ethari told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The Makhoul is approved dam in previous periods, but the circumstances that the country went through prevented starting it," noting that "the Ministry of Water Resources announced the start of it a few months ago."
He pointed out, "There are many gains achieved from the dam, including control over water distribution and storage, in addition it is consider as a water body that gives environmental benefits, and the social influence of the dam in providing job opportunities."
The Ministry of Water Resources confirmed yesterday, Saturday, the necessity of completing the Makhoul dam, while the ministry clarified that its latest agreement with Turkey was signed by its President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and obliges it to release fair shares of the waters to the Tigris and Euphrates.
