The Ministry of Education announced, today, Thursday, that Iraq has signed an agreement to participate in the international trends tests for science and mathematics.
A statement by the ministry, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "Iraq, represented by the Ministry of Education, signed the agreement to participate in the TIMSS International Trends Tests for Science and Mathematics, which is conducted by the International Commission for Evaluation of Educational Achievements and is based in Netherlands," noting that "this is a scientific achievement." It is recorded for the first time in the history of Iraq and confirms the students' readiness to take the international trends exams for "Science and Mathematics" to be launched in 2023.
The statement added, "The signing ceremony took place at the headquarters of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in The Hague, in the presence of Ambassador Hassan Al-Alawi, and the Iraqi side was represented by the Undersecretary for Scientific Affairs, Adel Al-Busaisi, Raad Khalaf Attia / Director of Institutional Development and Government Coordination, Firas Mohammed Hassan, Director of Cultural Exchange, and Imad Khader Abbas, director of the exams, while Andrea Nitin, director of the international body, Derek and David Hasten attended.
He pointed out that "this agreement will enable Iraq to participate in a copy of the tests that will be conducted in the year 2023 for students of the fourth grade of primary school in the two subjects (science and mathematics)."
