The spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Major General Yahya Rasool, announced, on Wednesday, developing new plans in the areas south of Kirkuk, especially Al-Rashad area.
Rasool said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "ISIS terrorist gangs are trying to take advantage of the current situation and the turnout for the elections in their attempt to provoke discord among the components of the people, especially in Kirkuk province, which has multi-ethnic population."
He added, "The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, in an emergency meeting of national security, directed to continue pursuing the terrorist gangs and give them no chance to carry out any terrorist act," affirming that "ISIS terrorist gangs are defeated , thus they are trying to achieve media victory" .
Rasool emphasized that “Al-Rashad incident will not pass without strict punishment, as the armed forces have new plans within the areas south of Kirkuk, especially the aforementioned area."
In a related issue, Rasool confirmed that the military leadership is working to secure the elections, as it has developed a precise plan that guarantees free and smooth electoral process.”
