Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi announced that the government is working to make Iraq a point of meeting and dialogue, while the Emir of Kuwait, Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, affirmed that his country will continue to support Iraq and its government.
The media office of the Prime Minister said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi met, today, Sunday, the Emir of the State of Kuwait, Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, in the presence of Crown Prince Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah," noting that "during the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, and ways to develop them to reach an advanced stage of integration, and to enhance joint cooperation, in the fields of economy, investment, industry, trade, and others."
Al-Kadhimi expressed “Iraq’s appreciation for the position of the late Emir Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, and the vision of Prince Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, in supporting Iraq, and in developing bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries.”.
Al-Kadhimi stressed that "what the region is facing in terms of challenges, starting with the Corona pandemic, passing through difficult economic conditions, regional tensions, and others, which makes us more believe in the need to cooperate and raise the level of coordination between our two countries," noting that "the Iraqi government is working for the transformation of Iraq to a point of convergence, dialogue and exchange of views between the various parties, and intensify efforts to enhance international cooperation to support Iraq and strengthen relations with neighboring countries.
And Al-Kadhimi indicated that "Baghdad will host, at the end of this month, the leaders of Iraq's neighboring and regional countries at the Baghdad Conference," expressing Iraq's desire for "the participation of the State of Kuwait at the highest levels."
For his part, the Emir of Kuwait, Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, welcomed "Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi and his accompanying delegation in Kuwait," expressing his wishes "to enhance cooperation between the two brotherly countries."
He stressed that "Kuwait will continue to support Iraq and its government in facing many challenges, and participating in overcoming obstacles in order to enhance the best relations, and in a manner that guarantees the interests of the peoples of the two countries.".
