Baghdad Operations Commander Lieutenant-General Ahmed Salim issued on Saturday, two new directives.
The Security Media Cell stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the Baghdad Operations Commander directed to intense the security measures to protect the electoral centers and logistic support stores for the IHEC.
The statement added that coinciding with the announcement by the Independent High Electoral Commission that it had completed all its preparations for holding the elections on the scheduled date, Lieutenant-General, Commander of Baghdad Operations and Chairman of the Subcommittee emanating from the Supreme Security Committee for the 2021 Iraqi Parliament elections, chaired an expanded security conference at the headquarters, during which he confirmed to increase security measures prepared by the Operations Command to protect the electoral centers and logistic support stores for the IHEC, in coordination with the Supreme Security Committee and the IHEC represented by the directors of its offices on Karkh and Rusafa sides to ensure the safety of holding elections in a safe and stable circumstances.
In a related issue, the commanders of the headquarters located Karkh and Rusafa and the Baghdad police chief oversee the voter registration centers to find out the protection of the centers and the intensifying security measures by the security units there, in addition to an inspection tour of the logistic support stores of the IHEC (Al-Rusafa stores) within the Karkh side (Dabash stores) to find out the latest developments in receiving warehouses and to tighten procedures and stages of rehabilitation.
