The leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, confirmed today, Friday, that the demonstration in Anbar Governorate is an attempt to provoke sectarian strife.
Al-Sadr said in a tweet to him, which was followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The attempt to demonstrate in Anbar Governorate by some ignorant people, is an attempt to provoke sectarian strife in order for some corrupt politicians to feed on it."
Al-Sadr added: “Sleeping discord, may God curse those who try to wake it up.”
He pointed out that "from here, the government should take control of matters and end the childish recklessness of some party followers who claim to demonstrate under the name of Tishreen, and they are innocent, but all of them are innocent, except for some corrupt people who feed on the people's harm and dependence on the outside from here and there."
