The Ministry of Electricity announced on Thursday, targeting of two power transmission towers in the holy province of Karbala, while calling on the concerned authorities to take maximum measures in order to stop these terrorist attacks.
The ministry said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that the power transmission lines were subjected on Thursday morning to an act of sabotage by detonating IED’s that resulted the damaged of two power transmission towers in the holy province of Karbala, pointing out that the terrorist attack targeted the two power towers no. (50-51) for the lines of (Musayyib - north of Karbala) and (Musayyib - east of Karbala), which led to their downfall and the power transmission lines were out of service.
The current situation exceeded being an exceptional emergency circumstances and turned into a declared war against the ministry of electricity, affirming that the citizen will continue to pay high prices for such a war, especially amid the situation of Corona pandemic and the scorching heat of the summer season, the statement added.
The ministry of electricity called on the competent authorities to take the utmost measures to stop these attacks, explaining that the ministry has exhausted most of its material capabilities and human resources, despite that it will continue to provide everything it has to serve the country.
