An Iraqi-Egyptian agreement to establish joint industrial zones

    The Minister of Planning, Khaled Batal Al-Najm, agreed today, Sunday, with the Egyptian Minister of Industry and Trade, Nevin Jameh, to activate the decisions of the tripartite summit that was held in the capital, Baghdad.

    The media office of the Minister of Planning said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the Minister of Planning, Khaled Battal Al-Najm, received today, the Egyptian Minister of Industry and Trade, Nevin Jameh, and her accompanying delegation, which included a number of government officials and Egyptian businessmen," noting that he During the meeting, which was attended by the Minister of Industry and Minerals Manhal Aziz Al-Khabbaz, the prospects for joint cooperation between the two friendly countries were discussed in the industrial, commercial and investment fields and ways to develop them, in light of the decisions of the tripartite presidential summit between Iraq, Egypt and Jordan, which Baghdad witnessed next week.

    He added, "The two sides agreed to develop a joint action plan with specific timings, to translate the paths of cooperation and decisions taken by the leaders of the two countries, into tangible practical reality, especially with regard to developing industry, increasing the volume of trade exchange, and strengthening the relationship between the Iraqi and Egyptian private sectors, through Activating the work of the Joint Action Council, which includes businessmen and investors from the two countries,” he said, noting that “the two parties discussed work mechanisms to establish joint industrial and economic zones and allow the private sector to undertake the tasks of implementing investment and industrial projects, and work to establish permanent trade fairs for industries and various products, and encourage craft industries.
