President Barham Salih announced on Monday, that integrity and electoral security are of the utmost necessity to secure the free will of voters and candidates, while indicating that the upcoming elections are of great importance.
"Salih held a meeting with the Head and members of the Independent High Electoral Commission and the Special Representative of UN Secretary-General in Iraq, Jeanine Hennes Plasschaert, who dealt with the election file," included a statement by the media office of the President, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
He added, "the meeting reviewed the timetables and operational processes for the elections, emphasizing the necessity of holding it on time, the requirements for conducting fair elections, and intensifying efforts to complete the biometric registration of voters in order to ensure the right to participate and the introduction of a legal and organizational code of conduct,”
They also discussed a national commitment charter among political forces, in addition to strengthening the UN role in supporting the electoral process and monitoring in a way that contributes to the success of the elections, guarantees sovereignty and respect the independent decision of the Iraqis,"
