A 30-year prison sentence for an accountant who misappropriated nearly a billion dinars in Maysan

    The Integrity Commission announced the issuance of a 30-year prison sentence for an accountant at the Agricultural Cooperative Bank - Al-Amara branch, for convicting it of embezzling an amount of up to one billion dinars.

    The investigation department of the authority said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “the Maysan Criminal Court / First Authority issued a decision indicting an accountant in the Agricultural Cooperative Bank - Al-Amara branch, for disbursing loans without the knowledge and consent of the borrowers, and the acquisition of the amounts of these loans and disposing of them in contradiction.

    For the law and instructions, "indicating that" the amount of the sums that embezzled amounted to (996,000,000) dinars. "
    they added, "The court, after reviewing the evidence obtained in the case, found it sufficient to convict her, so it decided to sentence her in absentia to a term of (30) years imprisonment in accordance with the provisions of Article 316 of the Penal Code."
