The Supreme Judicial Council announced that the rate of youth addiction to drugs may reach 50%, while identifying the main factors causing drug abuse among young people .
Al-Musayyib Investigation Court Judge Nabil Al-Taie said in a statement issued by the Supreme Judicial Council received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “Drug crimes are no longer confined to men. Rather, we notice the involvement of women in those crimes, and perhaps the most important reasons for their spread are concentrated in increasing global production of drugs.
The development of communication and transportation technology also has a vital role in facilitating the spread of drugs on the one hand, and spreading the culture of sex on the other hand, which is the culture that plays a role in the spread and abuse of drugs.
And he added, "The poor economic conditions and the high unemployment rate lead to many people taking narcotic substances, thinking that they are removing them from this painful reality, as there are many other reasons related to peoples' culture and subversive goals that lead as a result to the destruction of peoples and make them absent from all meanings of humanity." .
