Minister of Electricity Majed Mahdi Hantoush, said today, Thursday, that he is optimistic about the Iranian response by releasing the required quantities of gas to Iraq.
Hantoush told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), today, Thursday, that "the upcoming visit that we will conduct to Iran, through which we hope to achieve what is planned to supply the required quantities of gas for all electrical stations."
He added that "there will be an improvement in the supply of energy, and the Ministry of Electricity has the support of Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi."
He pointed out that "all ministries support the efforts of the Ministry of Electricity and under the guidance of the Prime Minister's Office."
He pointed out that "energy rationalization will allow the supply of 24 hours a day, despite the need for Iraq to 28 thousand megawatts, indicating that it is not possible within a few months to address a problem that has accumulated for years."
Yesterday, the Ministry of Electricity revealed the date and agenda for the visit of its Minister, Majid Mahdi Hantoush, to the Iranian capital, Tehran.
The official spokesman for the Ministry of Electricity, Ahmad Musa, said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the visit of the Minister of Electricity, to the Iranian capital, Tehran, is supposed to take place early next week, to discuss the implications of the file of reducing the proportion of exported gas to Iraq and resolving it."
Moussa added, "The visit comes with a government mandate, and focuses on discussing the issue of increasing gas releases at the agreed rates, since Iraq needs 50 million cubic meters per day in winter, and 70 million cubic meters per day in the summer, to meet the increase in demand."
