BAGHDAD - INA
President of the Republic, Barham Salih, stressed, on Friday, the need for a new political contract to reform governance towards a capable, sovereign state.
In his tweet to him on Twitter, followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Salih said: "On April 9, we remember the martyrdom of Imam al-Sadr, and the fall of the despotic regime that committed the most heinous crimes against Iraqis."
"We cannot underestimate the major transformations achieved after the change, and we must acknowledge failures that cannot be justified solely by the legacy of the previous regime," he added.
And he continued, "We need a new political contract that fixes governance towards a capable, sovereign state."
