The Parliamentary Youth and Sports Committee confirmed today, Tuesday, the ability of Iraq to host the 25 Gulf states in Basra Governorate.
The head of the committee, Abbas Aliwi, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), "The importance of this championship lies in the fact that it brings together the Gulf brothers," stressing "the ability of the Iraqi government and the local government in Basra Governorate to establish this sports forum."
He added, "The Parliamentary Youth and Sports Committee will be a catalyst in hosting Gulf states 25 in Basra Governorate, and that the Iraqi public deserves to embrace this sporting activity," pointing to "the importance of the Gulf sports federations supporting this important activity and setting it up in Iraq."
Aliwi expressed his thanks "for the position of the brothers in Qatar for their unwillingness to host the Gulf Arab 25 as an alternative to Iraq, which represents support and strength for the Gulf federations in agreeing to host Iraq for the tournament."
