The General Company for Phosphates in the Al-Anbar Governorate, Al-Qaim district, seeks to obtain appropriate financial allocations for its rehabilitation, restarting its seven plants, which have been stalled since ISIS terrorist gangs took control of the city, and destroyed and stole its vehicles.
The director of the media and public relations department in the company, Wajdi Zakir, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The General Phosphate Company is one of the formations of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, and the company is located in Anbar Governorate - Al-Qaim district. It was established in 1976 with a capital of 350 million Iraqi dinars, equivalent to Billion dollars at the time. "
He added that "the company includes seven major and huge factories, which are: the phosphate rock mine in Akashat, the phosphate rock concentration plant, the sulfuric acid production plant, the phosphoric acid production plant, the fertilizer production plants , the ammonia production plant, and the fluorine salts production plant." , Pointing out that “all these factories have stopped working since June 2014 due to the great destruction that occurred as a result of the occupation of the company by the terrorist gangs, where the infrastructure was destroyed and all stores, spare vehicles and tools and their equipment were stolen, in addition to the damage that occurred as a result of the military actions during occupation and during liberation operations. "
Zakir continued, "The Company was announced as an investment opportunity, and it was referred to a conditional initial referral to the Czech Finesta Group of Companies and the Portuguese Oliveira Company. However, the emergence of the issue of reconsidering the subject of the mineral investment law prevented proceeding with the subsequent procedures of the contract." Fundamental approvals to proceed with the contract signing process seek all efforts to obtain appropriate financial allocations to rehabilitate them, especially since the number of its employees reaches 2,400 affiliates, and it contributes to providing raw materials from important products in local industries.
