Salih receives Francis

The President of the Republic, Dr. Barham Salih, met with Pope Francis, today, Friday, at the Peace Palace in the capital Baghdad.
The correspondent of the Iraqi News Agency (INA) said, "Salih met the Pope, who arrived in the capital, Baghdad, on the first visit of the Vatican to Iraq."
The Pope’s visit includes a meeting with the President of the Republic and a visit to Najaf to meet with Al-Sistani and a visit to the city of Ur in Dhi Qar.
Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi received Pope Francis upon his arrival at Baghdad International Airport.
