The High Commission for Human Rights stressed today, Thursday, the importance of creating a supreme body concerned with the family, indicating that Iraq is one of the best countries in the region in terms of legislation, stressing the need to legislate a domestic violence law.
A member of the commission, Zaidan Khalaf Al-Atwani, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Iraq is one of the best countries in the region in terms of legislation, especially it has Law 76 of 1983, Law 37 of 2015 and other relevant laws."
He added, "The problem is in the dispersal of laws, once in the Criminal Procedure Code, and another in the Juvenile Law, so we are in the process of collecting them."
