The President of the Republic, Dr. Barham Salih stressed the necessity of easing tensions in the region and continuing the war on terror.
The media office of the President of the Republic said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), today, Thursday, that "the President of the Republic received the Russian Ambassador to Iraq, Maxim Maximov, and during the meeting, they discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and expand the horizons of cooperation and joint action in a way that serves the mutual interests of the two countries."
He added, "The latest developments on the regional and international arenas were reviewed, as the commitment of dialogue to enhance regional peace and security was emphasized."
During the meeting, Salih stressed the need for concerted regional and international efforts to combat terrorism and extremism, to reduce tensions that negatively affect the development and prosperity opportunities for the peoples of the region, to coordinate and to work together, and for Iraq to be a hub in promoting security and stability.
