Today, Thursday, President of the Republic, Dr. Barham Salih, affirmed that Iraq bases its relations on the principle of balance.
His media office said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "President Salih received, Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto and his accompanying delegation," stressing "the importance of strengthening friendship and cooperation with Finland in all fields in the service of common interests."
The President of the Republic pointed out that "Iraq is based in its external relations on the principle of balance and avoiding the policy of the axes, in a manner that preserves its sovereignty and stability, in addition to joint work with all parties in order to consolidate stability and regional security."
He added that "Iraq's interest and earnest desire to continue international efforts in the war against terrorism and to dry up its sources and sources of funding to achieve international peace and security", noting "the necessity of concerted efforts by the international community to confront the Corona pandemic and limit its spread to ensure the safety of peoples."
In turn, the Finnish Foreign Minister expressed his country's commitment and keenness to consolidate the frameworks of joint cooperation with Iraq in all fields, pointing to the depth of bilateral relations between the two countries and the necessity of taking them to more developed levels.
