The ministry statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated that "according to the direction of the Minister of Health and Environment Dr. Jaafar Sadiq Allawi, to develop a treatment protocol for the use of plasma in the treatment of corona patients and after the experiments conducted in America, China and Iran and the approval of the American Food and Drug Authority (FDA) the possibility of giving positive results to cases Severe and life-threatening, the National Center for Blood Transfusion and the Department of Blood Transfusion Services of the Technical Affairs Department of the Ministry of Health today, Tuesday, April 14, 2020, take blood plasma from patients recovering from this virus on a voluntary basis.
The Ministry for the first time in Iraq will implement the protocol and technology that have proven successful in a number of developed countries and with the approval of the Advisory Committee for Hematology in the ministry and in accordance with the criteria for selecting donors within special conditions set by the World Health Organization, including that the plasma donor be infected with a virus and confirmed with certainty and cured of infection results PCR examination for two consecutive times and has no symptoms for 14 days to 28 days and after conducting multiple tests in our accredited central laboratories on a voluntary basis, explaining that “the Ministry of Health and Environment has capabilities from laboratories and blood transfusion banks and equipment and staff For this purpose of enabling them to direct and adopt this method if proved successful by applying it to one of severe cases and expatriate in the Euphrates Hospital and Hospital Ibn al-Khatib after the approval of patients and their families and will be applied in Baghdad and all the provinces if successful.
