Today, Saturday, Umm Qasr Port Administration announced that it will take strict measures to check Chinese goods at Umm Qasr Port.

An official source in the port of Umm Qasr told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The competent medical committees in Umm Qasr port and after the spread of the Corona virus have taken strict measures to examine imported Chinese goods," noting that "special committees from the Basra Health Department are taking samples from Chinese goods imported and subjected to quality inspection and control in the province's laboratories. "

He explained that "if the tests prove that the goods have a composite material sent to laboratories in Baghdad, but if the results of the examination are positive, that is, they are suitable for human consumption and free from any contamination and do not carry any virus, then they are unloaded from the ships in the port", noting that "in If the result of the examination is negative and the goods are not in conformity with the controls and there is a defect, they are immediately returned to the place from which they were imported and this applies to all types of goods.

He continued, "The port is witnessing a significant and significant decline in the quantity and number of imported Chinese goods due to the spread of the Corona virus and the departure of most suppliers from their work sites."

The representative of Basra Governorate, Jamal Al-Muhammadawi, had warned earlier today, Saturday, of a health disaster in the port of Umm Qasr due to the entry of Chinese ships, calling for the dispatch of health teams to the port as soon as possible.

Al-Muhammadawi said in a statement: "The entry of ships that coming from China, with Chinese or Philippine cadres, to the port of Umm Qasr and without any tests for their possible infection with the Corona virus, may cause the spread of this virus throughout Iraq."
