Iraq reiterated the support and principled stance towards Palestinian cause and that it is among the defenders by all legitimate means.

"Foreign Minister Muhammad Ali al-Hakim, initiated a message to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Brazil, Ernesto Araujo, in which he expressed the position of Iraq rejecting what was issued by the announcement of the Brazilian government on the tenth of last November to open a commercial office in occupied Jerusalem, which came in contradiction to Brazil's steadfast position in support of the Palestinian issue and in violation of International Security Council Resolution No. 478 of 1980,” said Iraqi Ambassador to Egypt and the permanent representative to the Arab League, Ahmed Nayef Al-Dulaimi, during the emergency meeting of the Arab League Council concerning the opening of a commercial office by Brazil in Jerusalem.

The Resolution stipulates as "Any decisions or measures aimed at changing the character, status, or demographic composition of the city of Jerusalem, have no legal effect and are null and void."

Al-Hakim also stressed on Resolution No. 8400 issued by the League of Arab States at the ministerial level in the session NO.152 during the meeting held in September 2019, which states to reaffirm that "East Jerusalem is the capital of the state of Palestine, any attempt to derogate from Palestinian sovereignty over it, is rejected, and to open any official offices or missions, whatever their names are to any state in the city of Jerusalem are condemned and refused and it is considered as a violation of the legal status of the city, a bias to the Israeli occupation and support illegal Israeli policies that is aimed at controlling occupied East Jerusalem and is a step harmful to peace.”

Al-Dulaimi pointed out that "This emergency meeting, for the third time in three months came to discuss an issue concerning the central issue of the Arabs (the Palestinian issue). It has become clear and evident that developments in this matter have become successive and accelerating, which we must face with the same speed and with full determination for it is a historical responsibility that we hold in our necks towards our brothers in Palestine, towards our Arabism, our crucial issues, and we are confident that all the brothers in this forum are the best ones to bear this responsibility,”
