THE PRESIDENT RECEIVES THE AMBASSADOR OF THE EUROPEAN UNION TO IRAQ ON ENDING HIS DUTY TOUR

President Barham Salih highlighted the importance of enhancing friendly relations with the European Union at all levels, and continuing coordination and consultation on issues of common interest in a manner that consolidates cooperation between the two sides.
His Excellency received the Ambassador of the European Union to Iraq Ramon Blecua on ending his tour of duty, at the Presidential Office in Baghdad, Tuesday, July 9, 2019.
During his meeting, the President indicated that Iraq is pursuing a clear cut and principled policy on regional and international issues so as to achieve security and stability in the region.
President Salih commended Ambassador Blecua’s efforts to develop the pace of bilateral relations between Iraq and the European Union, and wished him success in his upcoming duties.
For his part, the Ambassador of the European Union asserted that the Union regards working with Iraq as a key priority given its regional and international stature as well as its ability to play an effective role in resolving regional crises.
