The Ministry of Planning discussed with a delegation from the European Union and the World Bank on Tuesday a number of common issues concerning the role that EU and WB can play in supporting and financing of infrastructure and service projects in librated areas and other governorates.
In a statement issued by the Ministry, copy of which received by the INA, acting minister Mahir Hammad Juhan confirmed to the EU, WB delegation the continuation of joint cooperation to extract full benefits from the international donations Iraq received during the Kuwait Donor Conference last year.
The statement went on saying that ‘both sides stressed on the importance of unifying all national and international efforts to boost Iraqi government’s reconstruction efforts and realizing full recovery and development in the librated areas and other governorates.
The statement goes on adding ‘the meeting, which was attended by Ramon Blecua. Ambassador / Head of Delegation of the European Union to Iraq, included also discussing a number of service projects under construction in Basra and other governorates using donations from the EU emphasizing the implementation of good governance and providing more jobs through extending more support to the private and agricultural sectors and the execution of water projects, as well as developing the available capacities in accordance with Iraq’s strategic vision detailed in the 2018-2022 Five-Year Development Plan, and the reconstruction plan, as well as Iraq’s vision of ‘sustainable development 2030’.
