New Austrian government sworn in

    The new coalition government in Austria was sworn in on Monday before President Alexander Van der Bellen after 155 days of negotiations.
     
    The Austrian Broadcasting Corporation reported that "Christian Stocker, leader of the conservative People's Party, succeeded in forming a coalition government that includes his party, the Social Democrats and the New Liberals, which decided to join the ministerial formation after its bases voted yesterday, Sunday, in favor of participating by a two-thirds majority.
     
    The new chancellor is scheduled to present his government program to parliament next Friday, amid expectations that he will receive the support of a comfortable majority.
