Parliament Speaker Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani stressed the importance of coordination between various security agencies to maintain and enhance Baghdad's security.
The media office of the Council of Representatives stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani, received today, Friday, Lieutenant General Walid Al-Tamimi, Commander of Baghdad Operations, and the meeting discussed the security challenges facing Baghdad and its suburbs, and the efforts made to combat terrorism and enhance cooperation between the security services and the people of the capital."
The Speaker of the Council of Representatives stressed, according to the statement, "the importance of coordination between the various security agencies and citizens to enhance stability and maintain and enhance the security of Baghdad."
The statement indicated that "President Al-Mashhadani listened to the views presented by the Operations Command and future plans to enhance security on the outskirts of the capital and work to secure the Baghdad belt from terrorist infiltrations. The meeting also discussed the efforts made to enhance security and stability in Baghdad and its suburbs."
