National Security Advisor Qassem Al-Araji and Australian Ambassador Glenn Miles emphasized on Saturday the importance of countries repatriating their citizens from the Al-Hol camp.
A statement from Al-Araji’s office, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that “National Security Advisor Qassem Al-Araji welcomed Australian Ambassador in Baghdad, Glenn Miles. During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral relations between the two countries and discussed ways to strengthen them, particularly in areas of counterterrorism cooperation, information exchange, and sharing expertise.”
According to the statement, Al-Araji expressed “Iraq’s welcome for the agreement on the ceasefire in Gaza after 15 months of devastating war and starvation,” stressing the “importance of adhering to the agreement, avoiding violations, and expediting the delivery of relief and humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza.”
The statement added that “the meeting also discussed the issue of the Al-Hol camp and emphasized the necessity of countries repatriating their citizens from the camp, in a manner that enhances regional and global security and stability.”
Al-Araji, according to the statement, “thanked the Australian ambassador for the Australian government’s initiative to repatriate its citizens from the Al-Hol camp.”
