The Ministry of Agriculture confirmed, today, Saturday, that Iraq exports 13 diverse agricultural commodities and a plan to increase the volume of exports, while indicating that there is a plan to increase the volume of exports of surplus products for local use.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Mithaq Abdul Hussein, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The ministry prioritizes reducing water waste by rationing water and reducing losses by adopting advanced techniques in irrigation operations."
Abdul Hussein pointed out that "import and export operations are part of the agricultural process in all countries of the world, and Iraq, in turn, imports some agricultural commodities, especially fruit crops, which it lacks due to the rise in temperatures and the increase in salinity in agricultural lands."
He added, "Iraq, in return, exports 13 diverse agricultural commodities, including potatoes, dates and fodder, and work is underway on a plan to increase the volume of exports of products that record a surplus in local use."
