Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani chaired a meeting today, Tuesday, to discuss the economic model for the Integrated South Basra Project, one of the country’s most important strategic initiatives.
The Media Office of The Prime Minister stated in a statement, received by The Iraqi News Agency-INA that “During the meeting, held with the specialized committee of experts from the Ministry of Oil, discussions focused on advancing the long-delayed project. It was agreed to approve the project after completing all its required elements”.
The statement further stated “The project includes several significant components, such as the development of Al-Tuba Oil Field, utilization of associated gas, construction of a state-of-the-art refinery, a fertilizer plant, and a petrochemical plant. Additionally, it involves the establishment of two power plants: one solar-powered and the other conventional, to supply energy to the project. These components collectively promise significant developmental and economic benefits, the creation of numerous job opportunities, and the growth of Iraq’s private sector”.
