Iraq, Qatar stress the urgency of containing the Syrian crisis through negotiations

    Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein and Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdurrahman Al Thani emphasized the importance of resolving the Syrian crisis through negotiations.
     
    In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that Minister Hussein met with Minister Al Thani on the sidelines of the Doha Forum. During the meeting, they discussed the current challenges facing the region, exchanging views on the severity and sensitivity of the situation in Syria and its potential ramifications.
     
    Both sides stressed the necessity of containing the Syrian crisis and halting the ongoing fighting. They called for negotiations as a means to end the bloodshed and alleviate the humanitarian suffering of the Syrian people.
     
    The two ministers warned that continued military escalation could lead to unpredictable consequences, potentially destabilizing neighboring countries.
     
    They agreed to continue monitoring the developments on the ground and to coordinate with other international and Arab partners to establish effective mechanisms aimed at halting the fighting and opening pathways for a political solution to end the Syrian crisis.
