The Joint Operations Command announced, today, Saturday, the killing of 4 terrorists in an airstrike in the Hamrin Mountains within the Kirkuk Operations Command sector on the border with the Salahuddin Operations Command.
A statement by the command received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) said: "Based on the directives of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, our heroic armed forces in various sectors of responsibility continue to record distinguished successes in destroying terrorist dens, tracking down its defeated elements and inflicting defeats on them."
The statement added, "After a distinguished intelligence effort by the men who dedicated themselves to Iraq and its people in the Military Intelligence Directorate, and harnessing its human and technical field resources, and through intensive follow-up by the targeting cell in the Joint Operations Command over two consecutive days, the location of a terrorist detachment consisting of (4) elements was identified in the Hamrin Mountains within the Kirkuk Operations Command sector on the border with the Salah al-Din Operations Command."
The statement explained that "in light of this accurate information and at 1820 hours today, the brave air hawks carried out a painful strike using F-16 aircraft targeting this terrorist detachment, which led to the killing of its members and the destruction of the hideout in which they were stationed. This strike also resulted according to the available information in the destruction of weapons, ammunition, logistical and explosive materials."
The statement continued, "Our forces and intelligence departments will continue to monitor the movements of the terrorists to bring just retribution against them, as there is no place for them on Iraqi soil."
