Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari discussed on Monday, in Tehran the Arbaeen Pilgrimage and securing the common borders.
A statement by the ministry received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated that "Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari arrived today with the accompanying delegation, which included a number of advisors, general managers and the official spokesman for the ministry, to the Iranian capital, Tehran, in response to an official visit he received to discuss a number of files of common interest between the two neighboring countries."
The statement added that "the Minister of Interior met with his Iranian counterpart, Eskandar Momeni At the beginning of the meeting, Al-Shammari congratulated Momeni on assuming the position of Minister of Interior.
He discussed with him a number of files, most notably the Arbaeen visit, securing the common borders, and the memorandum of understanding between the two countries, in addition to various topics, including training, exchange of expertise, and the axis of students sent to Iran for academic security studies. Topics related to traffic and passports were also discussed."
For his part, the Iranian Minister of Interior thanked the Iraqi Minister of Interior, appreciating the great efforts made by the Iraqi Ministry of Interior in combating drugs and crime in all its forms, and working to enhance security.
It praised "the successes achieved by it and the progress made in its work at various levels," welcoming "greatly the issue of joint cooperation between the two countries."
