Southern Refineries: Our exports are of the highest international specifications

    The Southern Refineries Company confirmed, today, Saturday, that it exports white oil and civil aviation fuel with the highest international specifications, while revealing its role in the government's plan to achieve self-sufficiency in gasoline and stop importing it.

    Director General of the Southern Refineries Company, Hussam Wali, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The fourth refining unit with a capacity of 70,000 barrels was recently operated by the Southern Refineries Company staff, which has made a significant shift in increasing the products from this unit to the local market, including kerosene (white oil)."

    He added, "There is a move to export the surplus of kerosene after covering the needs of the local market, and a contract has also been signed with Iraqi companies to export civil aviation fuel (GTE One) outside Iraq," explaining that "SOMO has contracted with local companies to export this material in a quantity of 180,000 tons, about 1,000 tons per day from the Southern Refineries Company."

    Wali explained that "this shipment is the second and before it, SOMO had contracted with local companies to export aviation fuel of about 52 thousand tons," noting that "the Southern Refineries Company continues to increase local market products and cover them with gas oil (kerosene) and kerosene as well as gas (LPG) and we also contribute to the government's plan to stop importing gasoline during the coming year by working to complete the requirements for operating the (FCC) units in the company."

    For his part, the Director of the Production Authority, Salman Hadar, explained to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "according to the ministerial directives issued after the state became self-sufficient in white oil kerosene, the formations affiliated with the Ministry of Oil, including the Southern Refineries Company, the Oil Marketing Company SOMO, the Pipelines and Pipelines Company, and the Distribution Company, headed to export the first shipment from Basra to Egypt with a quantity ranging from 800 to 1000 tons, subject to increase according to demand."

    He explained, "We also exported civil aviation fuel, which is distinguished by its quality with international specifications," noting that "(GTE One) is characterized by sensitive operating conditions and repeated laboratory results, and our production is of high quality."

    In turn, the head of supply and receipt at the Southern Refineries Company, Haider Salman, confirmed to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the export operations are in line with the federal government's directions to increase production, maximize revenues, diversify exports, and reduce import operations."

    The head of the Planning and Follow-up Division, Ahmed Fawzi, indicated during his interview with the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the export operations are currently carried out in special tanks that are subject to accurate measurement operations according to international standards."
