The Ministry of Interior (MOI) announced on Thursday the arrest of six suspects involved in the smuggling of oil products across three provinces.
In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the MOI stated, "The second Energy Police Brigade, operating in the provinces of Salah al-Din, Anbar, and Basra, apprehended six individuals and seized their vehicles, which were prepared for smuggling oil products in violation of several regulations."
The statement further indicated that the suspects have been placed in custody, and their vehicles have been confiscated while investigations proceed in accordance with Law No. 41 of 2008, which addresses the combating of oil smuggling and its derivatives.
