The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Naeem Al-Aboudi, called on Arab universities on Sunday, to condemn and oppose the Israeli aggression against Lebanon and Palestine.
In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the ministry noted that “Minister Al-Aboudi welcomed the Secretary-General of the Arab Universities Union, Amr Izzat Salama, and the accompanying delegation.”
According to the statement, the Minister emphasized “the importance of academic influence and presence in denouncing and condemning the systematic genocides perpetrated by the Israeli entity in Lebanon and Palestine.”
It added that “the minister urged for more collaborative efforts that enhance the Arab peoples’ positive influence on the level of scientific research and university excellence.”
For his part, Secretary-General of the Arab Universities Union, Amr Izzat Salama, affirmed “the importance of the initiative launched by the Minister of Higher Education during the 56th session of the General Conference of the Arab Universities Union, held in Baghdad in March 2024, which provided momentum for the alignment of positions, efforts, and joint work.”
