The spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Major General Yahya Rasool, confirmed today, Thursday, that thousands of tons of medical and food aid, including ambulances, have been sent to Gaza and Lebanon.
Major General Rasool told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Under the guidance and continuous follow-up of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, to assist the Lebanese people through the committee formed under the chairmanship of Counselor Zidane al-Atwani and the relevant authorities, and in coordination with the security and sectoral authorities, and cooperation with the Lebanese authorities, hundreds of tons of humanitarian aid and food supplies were sent, hospitals were provided with medical equipment and ambulances, and five planes loaded with medical supplies that contribute to saving lives were sent."
He added, "Many vehicles loaded with relief supplies such as tents and some materials that alleviate the suffering of the displaced were sent, and large quantities of relief aid were also sent to the Palestinian people in Gaza."
He pointed out that "all materials were sent through the Iraqi Red Crescent Society in coordination with the relevant authorities in the State of Lebanon and the Lebanese Red Crescent."
