SMC: 7 security personnel killed and wounded in an attack by ISIS gang remnants in Kirkuk

The Security Media Cell (SMC) announced on Wednesday, the martyrdom of 4 fighters and the injury of 3 others in an attack by ISIS terrorist gangs in Kirkuk Governorate.

The spokesman for the Ministry of Interior and the Security Media Cell, Brigadier General Muqdad Miri, said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "At 10:00 on Wednesday, a force from the Intelligence of the 42nd Brigade of the 11th Division was subjected to an ambush while carrying out a reconnaissance and inspection duty in the Zgheiton Valley, within the Kirkuk Operations Command sector."

The statement added, "The ambush resulted in the martyrdom of 4 fighters and the injury of 3 others with varying injuries."

It pointed out that "the force was reinforced and the terrorist detachment was surrounded, and it was supported by air in the presence of the division commander," stressing "the formation of an investigative council to determine the circumstances of the incident."
