Chinese ambassador: Iraq and China gain from the outcomes of their framework agreement

    Speaking on eight Iraq-related topics on Wednesday, including visas and the Road of Development project, Chinese Ambassador to Iraq Cui Wei emphasized that the outcomes of the framework agreement between China and Iraq are advantageous to both nations.

    "The results of the framework agreement between Iraq and China achieve a benefit for both countries," the Chinese ambassador said in a statement to various media outlets, including the Iraqi News Agency (INA). He also mentioned that "the Iraqi government is working to benefit from its resources and we provide advice to them continuously."

    Noting that "the Road of Development project is an important path for the development of the country and the development of its capabilities," he continued, "many schools were handed over in accordance with the framework agreement."

    After stating that "the Chinese side supports Iraq in the completion of realistic projects," he went on, quoting Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani as discussing the significance of the Road of Development project.

    The Iraqi government continues to work with us on school projects, and we have given our approval to carry out any project you wish regarding schools; by the end of this year, more than 600 schools will be built, he said. "We have the intention to provide support to Iraq regarding armament and the development of military capabilities; cooperation in the military aspect is a conversation between the two countries."

    He went on, "We granted many facilities regarding entry visas for all citizens wishing to study and treatment, which are not limited to diplomats and businessmen only, and we directed all our consulate in the provinces to provide all facilities for those wishing to obtain entry visas to China." "The volume of electric car exports to Iraq began to rise, reaching 20,000 last year, but in 2024 it reached 23,000," he said.

    In addition, he noted that "China is the largest importer of various fields and oil and is keen to support Iraq and train cadres in the important joint, which is artificial intelligence." The volume of trade exchanged between Iraq and China reached 27 billion dollars this year, up from 49.7 billion dollars in the previous year.

    He called for "continuing the progress and success achieved by Iraq at the internal and external levels thanks to this government," noting that "the government of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani succeeded in bringing about urban change in a number of provinces, and Al-Sudani is positive in achieving more progress, which is the reason for what Iraq has reached internally and externally."
