Manchester United returned to the path of victories, by defeating its host Southampton 3-0, in the match that brought them together, today, Saturday, in the fourth round of the English Premier League.
Southampton's Cameron Archer missed a penalty in the 32nd minute, after which Manchester United managed to score the first goal through Matthijs de Ligt in the 35th minute, then Marcus Rashford added the second goal in the 41st minute, to end the first half with United leading 2-0.
In the second half, Southampton failed to reduce the difference or exchange attacks with Manchester United, until the 79th minute, which witnessed the expulsion of Jack Stephens, which caused Manchester United to intensify its attacks until it scored the third goal in the sixth minute of stoppage time through Alejandro Garnacho.
United raised its score to 6 points in seventh place, achieving its second victory in the league this season, and its first after losing in the last two matches.
In contrast, Southampton remained without points at the bottom of the standings, and lost its first three matches.
