Basra - INA
Basra International Stadium will witness the launch of the first steps of the Lions of Mesopotamia in the journey of the long-awaited World Cup dream, in which the brotherly Omani national team will be the first stop and the gateway to the decisive stage.
The Director of the Media Office of the Iraqi Central Football Association, Youssef Faal, believes that Basra Governorate will be a good omen for Iraqi football in achieving the dream of reaching the World Cup with the determination and resolve of the Lions.
"The current generation of players deserves to reach the World Cup. There are plenty of good players who enjoy unprecedented governmental and media support, in addition to the support of the Iraqi Football Association," he told the Iraqi News Agency (INA) on Thursday. "The national team players feel the value of this responsibility placed on their shoulders, so they are very enthusiastic about the start of the game to write history. Basra will be the face of goodness for Iraqi football and the starting point for reaching the World Cup."
He added that "the technical staff of our national team, led by the Spaniard Jesus Casas, gave the players many tactical doses, both defensively and offensively. He knows the secrets of the Omani national team and found the appropriate tactical solutions for them." He pointed out that "Casas places full confidence in all the players, whether they participate in the starting lineup or on the bench, to accomplish the mission and come out with a good result."
