MOHE confirms Iraq's readiness to host the Arab Higher Education Ministers Conference and the Arab Forum

    Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Naeem Al-Aboudi confirmed, today, Thursday, Iraq's readiness to host the Arab Higher Education Ministers Conference and the Arab Forum, while announcing the intention to establish the College of Artificial Intelligence at the University of Baghdad.

    A statement by the ministry received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) said: "The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Naeem Al-Aboudi, visited the headquarters of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) in the Tunisian Republic, and was received by the Director of the Organization, Mohamed Ould Amar, and representatives of the departments of education, culture, science and scientific research, the Secretariat of the Executive Council and the General Conference of the Organization, while a joint session was held in the presence of a number of heads of public and private universities and the Director General of the Department of Scholarships and Cultural Relations.".

    Al-Aboudi confirmed according to the statement the readiness of Iraq and its academic institutions to host the work of the tenth session of the Arab Forum for Scientific Research and Sustainable Development and the Conference of Arab Ministers of Higher Education in Baghdad.

    The statement added that "Al-Aboudi discussed with the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) a proposal to adopt the Higher Education Reading Award sponsored by the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research as an Arab project under the umbrella of the organization to include all Arab educational institutions. He reviewed the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education's intention to establish the College of Artificial Intelligence at the University of Baghdad, noting at the same time that university and educational institutions in the Republic of Iraq have taken positive steps and procedures to develop cooperation at the level of the Arab world and support expertise and employ human and scientific capabilities to achieve qualitative partnerships and academic impact and respond to the sustainable development strategy extending until 2030."

    The statement continued, "The Director of the Organization, Muhammad Ould Amar, for his part, expressed his pride in the visit of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Naeem Al-Aboudi, to the (ALECSO) organization, appreciating the openness of Iraq and its educational institutions to its Arab and international surroundings and the launch of many important academic programs, including scholarships within the Study in Iraq program to attract Arab and foreign students and enhance the fields of scientific research, cooperation and cultural exchange."
