The Iraqi National Security Service-INSS announced on Friday the arrest of a network consisting of 10 suspects involved in oil pipeline breaches in Basra Governorate
. According to a statement from INSS received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), "The National Security Agency units in Basra apprehended a network of 10 suspects, including an expert in pipeline breaches and the person responsible for such operations across five governorates
." The statement further noted that "the network included officers and personnel involved in crude oil smuggling," adding that "the operation resulted in the discovery of two sites where crude oil pipelines were breached, located in the Al-Zubair and Juayda areas, as well as the apprehension of the suspects in the act along with the tankers prepared for smuggling
." INSS confirmed that "the suspects have been detained under Article 4 of the Anti-Terrorism Law, per Article 6, First of the Oil Derivatives Smuggling Law
."
