Minister of Interior Abdul Amir Al-Shammari stressed, today, Friday, the protection of the border strip (Iraqi-Syrian) and not allowing any breach.
A statement by the Ministry of Interior received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated that "Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari continued his tour of the Iraqi-Syrian border strip, as he visited the headquarters of the Fourth Brigade of the Second Region in the Border Forces Command and was briefed on the most important duties it performs to secure the common border.".
The statement added that "Al-Shammari listened to a detailed briefing on the tasks of this brigade in monitoring the borders, the mechanism for conducting patrols, technical work, securing the vast areas within the sector of responsibility, and the most important components of the plans in place and the future.".
According to the statement, the minister directed that "the officers and members in this sector be fully prepared to deter any attack," addressing them that they are "responsible for the border strip.".
He stressed, "not allowing any breach and continuing to monitor and protect the borders; as they are the first line of defence," stressing that "the ministry fully supports the work of the Border Forces Command and harnesses the capabilities to make this command exemplary.".
The statement continued, "Al-Shammari visited two factories to produce potable water, another for making ice blocks, and several other facilities that provide what the fighters need within this sector.
He also met with several officers and members and listened to their needs, directing them to be met by the powers granted."
