The largest project plan in Diwaniyah was unveiled today, Wednesday, by Minister of Construction and Housing Benkin Rekani, who also mentioned that the projects will benefit 42 residential neighborhoods in the governorate.
"Under the guidance of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, we announce the launch of the largest project package in Diwaniyah, which consists of 6 sewage projects, including the completion of the large sluggish Diwaniyah sewage project, the Ghams sewage project, and the Afak sewage project," Rikani said in a statement to Al-Iraqiya News, which was then picked up by the Iraqi News Agency (INA). Along with three water projects—the Shafi'iyya water project, the Daghara and Sumer water projects, and the water pipeline to the city of Diwaniyah—there are also two bridges, a Hawalli road in Daghara, the entrances to the city of Diwaniyah, and the radio bridge. These projects are in addition to the Al-Mahanawiya, Samar, and Sunniyah sewerage projects.
"The Diwaniyah situation is not what is desired, and this campaign was launched with the support of the Governorate, the Ministry, and all concerned members of the parliament and members of the Governorate Council to remove all obstacles that hinder its work," he continued. "These projects are among the largest projects adopted by the Ministry and the Governorate."
In order to finish this project, he emphasized, "We have jointly formed an operations room," promising that "these projects will not stop until they are fully completed."
He stated that "these projects include 42 neighborhoods," pointing out that "the neighborhoods whose designs are prepared are delivered to the company with a specific work schedule and are completed within the period, and we are working to solve some simple technical problems in the governorate."
