Iraqi Ambassador to Ankara: We are following the circumstances of the killing of Iraqis in Turkey

    The Iraqi ambassador to Ankara, Majid Al-Lajmawi, confirmed today, Friday, a follow-up of the circumstances of the killing of Iraqis in Afyonkarahisar province with the competent authorities in Turkey.

    A statement from the Iraqi embassy in Ankara, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that “the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Ankara, Majid Al-Lajmawi, received the families of Iraqi citizens who were subjected to a killing accident in the Turkish state of Afyonkarahisar in the past days.”

    He added, "The ambassador offered condolences to their families," stressing that "the embassy is following up with the competent Turkish authorities through diplomatic channels on the circumstances of the case and the reasons that led to its occurrence."

    The ambassador directed the consular section and the legal department at the embassy to "coordinate with the competent Turkish authorities to carry out a field visit as quickly as possible to determine the circumstances of the incident and follow up on the case in all its investigative and judicial stages."

    For their part, "the victims' families appreciated the role of the Iraqi embassy in Ankara in communicating with them and providing the necessary support in following up on the case."
