A student at the College of Oil and Gas Engineering in Basra Governorate, Al-Zahraa Muhannad Kazem, explained the content of her research, which won out of 30,000 participants in the Oil and Gas Conference held in Houston, Texas, USA.

Al-Zahraa Muhannad said in her interview with the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The research is developing a new method for extracting fortified oil, which deals with three main and sequential stages (CO2 gas injection stage - stop stage - production stage); with the aim of storing the gas in conjunction with increasing oil extraction and reducing oil levels.”

She added, "Meaning that it proposes to inject oil extractions with gas instead of water by investing in associated gas instead of wasting it through combustion, and it develops a new method for extracting subsidized oil through gas injection.".

She added, "The research received the approval of the conference organizing committee, and I was chosen from among 30,000 participants representing more than 100 countries as the best researcher in the field of the global oil industry.".

She continued, "The research was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Engineer Wathiq Jassim Al-Muzaffar from the Basra Oil Company in cooperation with Professor Dr. Dandina Rao from the Department of Petroleum Engineering from Louisiana State University in the United States of America.".
