Paris Saint-Germain coach, Luis Enrique, commented today, Saturday, on Kylian Mbappe’s official announcement of his departure from the team at the end of the season.
Enrique said, in the introductory press conference for the Toulouse match: “We did not win, so it is clear that it has been difficult days because of the emotions since this exclusion. We failed to win against Dortmund, and we were close to reaching the final.”
He added, "Football is a complex enough sport, as the teams with the best players do not win every match. We have known about Mbappe's decision for a long time, like everyone else, and this does not change anything in the general picture."
He continued, "All my decisions were made based on what I consider to be best for the team. There is still a title that we strive to achieve this season, and this is our goal, and I am convinced that regardless of the players, we will be stronger next season."
Regarding his feelings regarding Mbappe’s departure, Enrique stated, “We wanted very much to confront each other and Mbappe denied it publicly, and all I can say are good things about Kylian and his brother.”
He concluded, "I understand Mbappe's decision. He spent 7 years here. He is the legend of the club. He gave everything to Paris. He has not told us where he will go yet, although we believe the matter is clear."
